At Size of Wales, we believe Wales can be a global leader in tackling the climate and nature crisis.
As Wales approaches the next Senedd elections in May 2026, our manifesto sets out our vision for a globally responsible Wales, showing how our nation can play a constructive role in responding to global challenges such as climate change, tropical deforestation and environmental injustice.
It draws on our experience of working with Indigenous Peoples, communities and partners in Wales and internationally, alongside evidence and learning from policy, practice and lived experience. The manifesto is intended to inform discussion and debate during the election period and to support thoughtful consideration of Wales’ global responsibilities.
We are calling on the next Welsh Government to continue to be outward looking and to take bold action to make Wales a Deforestation Free Nation. This includes transforming public procurement, food systems and farming in Wales; strengthening climate and global citizenship education; continuing to support tree-growing programmes overseas; and standing in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples on the front line of the climate crisis.
We have limited time in which to prevent catastrophic global warming. Wales has a unique opportunity to show leadership in global responsibility and sustainability and in doing so, deliver real benefits at home.
Taking action to reduce Wales’ global footprint can strengthen local food systems, support Welsh farmers, improve public health, create green jobs, and build long-term climate resilience. By choosing deforestation-free, ethical and sustainable pathways, Wales can protect nature, support communities worldwide, and create a healthier, fairer and more secure future for people in Wales.
