As a climate and nature charity, based in Wales and rooted in our communities, we extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to the new government. We look forward to working alongside you as Wales enters a new chapter filled with opportunities, ambition, and shared responsibility.
Your manifesto commitments on climate action, nature recovery, global solidarity, and environmental justice speak to the hopes of people across our nation. Wales has an honoured tradition of global solidarity and support for international justice; values we see every day in the communities we serve, locally and globally: a deep love for our land, a belief in fairness, and a determination to protect the world we will pass on to future generations.
Through our powerful education work with children and young people, we have seen thousands across Wales inspired to think creatively about their choices, climate action, and the role they can play in their own communities. Their energy, imagination and commitment remind us that a fairer, greener future is not only possible, but already being shaped by the next generation.
We are especially encouraged by the Welsh Government’s long-standing support for the Mbale Tree Growing Programme, a partnership that has connected communities in Wales and Uganda through shared action, solidarity, and climate resilience. Its success – millions of trees planted, livelihoods strengthened, and landscapes restored – stands as a powerful example of what Wales can achieve when we look outward as well as inward.
We also recognise the importance of the Welsh Government’s role in protecting tropical rainforests, including the Amazon in South America, which are essential to stabilising the global climate, safeguarding biodiversity, and supporting the Indigenous and local communities with whom Wales stands in solidarity.
