Carwyn Jones is the Former First Minister of Wales and served in the role between 2009 and 2018. He has also previously served in the Welsh Government as Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Minister for the Environment, Planning and Countryside, Minister for Education, Culture and the Welsh Language, and Counsel General for Wales. He stood down as the Member of the Senedd for Bridgend in April 2021 after 22 years of service.
A strong advocate for the environment, Carwyn implemented a series of important climate measures as First Minister, including the 2016 Wales Climate Act and the 2015 Well-being of Future Generations Act. In 2013, he also committed Welsh Government funding to the Mbale Trees Programme as part of Wales’ national response to climate change.
As Chair of Trustees, Carwyn offers strategic leadership to the organisation and ensures strong governance.
