This coffee is part of something remarkable. So is every person who buys it.
At Size of Wales, we are really pleased to be partnering again with Cardiff-based roasters and coffee shop Hard Lines on a special coffee that supports people and their tropical forests. Every bag sold helps fund action to protect tropical forests and stand alongside the communities who care for them.
For Size of Wales, this partnership feels like a natural one. Coffee is grown in tropical landscapes, often in and around forests. When it’s grown and sourced responsibly, it can support sustainable livelihoods for the very communities working to protect those environments. That connection between people, land and forests is at the heart of what we do.
Coffee that tastes good and does good
This collaboration centres on Colombia Mujeres, a washed Colombian coffee added to Hard Lines’ seasonal line-up in March 2026. It is a brilliant example of how quality and purpose can go hand in hand. Hard Lines describe it as bright and juicy, with citrus acidity, berry sweetness and a smooth, vanilla-like finish; perfect for filter, black coffee, or a lighter, fruit-forward espresso. Delicious! And what makes it special to us is what sits behind the cup. Every purchase helps support our forest partners to protect and restore tropical forests.
Indigenous Peoples are the most effective guardians of these forests, and our work supports their leadership; the strengthening of their land rights, biodiversity protection, and livelihoods for current and future generations.
A partnership built on shared values
This is our second collaboration with Hard Lines through their Ground Level social action programme, and it is something we have genuinely loved building together. Their previous campaign, For the Forests, raised £3,365 to support the Wampís Nation in protecting the Peruvian Amazon. It showed what is possible when great coffee, ethical sourcing and forest protection come together with a shared purpose. That is what this partnership is really about: finding practical, positive ways to connect everyday choices with global impact.
“Partnering with Size of Wales allows us to go further in supporting forest protection and tackling climate change. As two Welsh organisations, this collaboration feels especially meaningful.” Ruth, Head of Coffee, Hard Lines.
Colombia Mujeres – Powered by women producers in Colombia
One of the most powerful parts of this coffee is its origin. Colombia Mujeres is produced entirely by women farmers who are members of the CENCOIC cooperative in Cauca, Colombia. CENCOIC (Central Cooperativa Indígena del Cauca) supports Indigenous Peoples through sustainable agriculture, cultural preservation and inclusive governance, helping build long-term economic independence. That matters to us. This collaboration doesn’t just raise funds here in Wales; it also shines a light on the women producers and community-led systems behind the coffee itself.
Why responsible sourcing matters
At Size of Wales, we know that protecting tropical forests is closely tied to how land is used and how people are able to make a living from it. Coffee can be part of that story in a positive way when it is sourced responsibly. The supply chain behind this coffee reflects that commitment. Importer DRWakefield collects geolocation data for farms and works with Enveritas to support traceability and deforestation-risk assessment. They were also the first independent coffee importer in the UK to gain both Fairtrade and Organic licences, later securing Rainforest Alliance certification. That added layer of integrity to the collaboration, combines fundraising with a genuine commitment to responsible sourcing.
From Wales to the world
We are proud that this is a partnership rooted in Wales, but its impact reaches far beyond. It connects people here with tropical forests, farming communities and forest defenders across the world. And it shows how something as everyday as buying coffee can be part of a much bigger picture.
By choosing Fairtrade coffee, you are not only supporting farmers with a fair income, you are also helping to protect tropical forests. Since 2019, Fairtrade certification includes zero deforestation criteria, meaning your choice supports both people and planet. This is at the heart of our Deforestation Free campaign and vision for a Deforestation Free Nation
If you are looking for a great coffee with real impact behind it, this is a brilliant place to start. Every bag sold supports our work to protect tropical forests and stand with the communities who depend on them, and right now, through the Big Give Earthrise campaign, every donation will be doubled, doubling the impact.
