What’s new at Size of Wales HQ

Posted on

Well, the short answer is a lot.

Over the past few months, Size of Wales has developed a long-term strategy for the organisation to ensure that its focus on protecting, conserving and reforesting tropical forests as part of the national response to climate change is strengthened.

With the new strategy came a restructuring of the roles within our small but efficient team. And an office move! We remain in our home at the Temple of Peace but have moved to a larger office now that the team is back up to full numbers.

Director –  At the end of November, we will bid a fond farewell to Rita Singh who was been with Size of Wales for the past 16 months. During this time Rita has helped to build closer relationships with our funders and partners, with additional funding being brought in through Trusts & Foundations which puts us in a stronger position to deliver on our strategy. Rita will be joining Kingspan Insulation and will be responsible for establishing the organisation’s sustainability division. Our recruitment is underway so stay tuned for news of Size of Wales’ appointment of the new director.

Education Programme Coordinator – We welcome to the team Deirdre Raffan. Deirdre comes to Size from Machynlleth’s Centre for Alternative TechnologyDeirdre will be building on our highly in-demand educational workshops across schools in Wales while looking to grow the programme across other key stages as well as working with teachers both current and new.
To find out more about Deirdre, we did a quick Q&A with her that you can read about here.

Forest Projects Coordinator – We are pleased to welcome Aimee Parker back after a year’s maternity leave. In this role Aimee will be strengthening the relationships between Size and our fantastic forest partners as well as ensuring that we build closer networks with other organisations working to address causes and impacts of tropical forest deforestation.

Communications and Campaigns Coordinator
– Anna Harris, who has been with Size of Wales for the past 18 months, is now responsible for Size of Wales’ communications and campaigns and is looking to breathe new life into both ensuring we are delivering real on-the-ground stories from our projects and other articles of interest on the wider topics of conversation surrounding climate change and international development.
