We are delighted to announce that the Mbale Trees Programme has reached the 15 million tree landmark!
This wonderful achievement is a testament to the hard work of the community and local organisations in Mbale, who have worked tirelessly to make it happen.
The programme, which has been running for over 10 years, is supported by Size of Wales and receives funding from the Welsh Government as part of Wales’ national response to the climate crisis.
To celebrate, a new film tells the story of the Mbale Trees Programme and the people behind it. It follows the impacts of tree growing in tackling climate change, both locally and internationally, and in improving local livelihoods.

Despite lockdowns in Uganda, work continues to take place locally in a safe way as we build towards supporting local communities to plant 25 million trees by 2025.
In the next steps of this journey, all the partners involved also look forward to deepening the longstanding friendship between Wales and Mbale.
