Vacancy: Programme Manager: Education and Youth Engagement

Size of Wales is a growing, ambitious Cardiff-based charity with global impact. We work to mobilise Wales to protect tropical forests and restore tropical forest landscapes as part of Wales’ national response to climate change. We do this through education and awareness raising activities in Wales as well as funding and supporting a number of overseas projects.

Size of Wales is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2020 and we are looking for an outstanding individual to manage our popular and expanding Education and Youth Engagement Programme. Reporting to the Director, the Programme Manager: Education and Youth Engagement will lead this programme, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of our workshops with 100-200 schools a year in primary and secondary schools (delivered by our Education Outreach Officers), managing our bank of online education resources and running our MockCOP programme and youth climate ambassadors network, with our partners WCIA. 

The post-holder will be passionate about engaging young people across Wales on the importance of tropical forests and on climate change, inspiring them to feel hopeful for the future and encouraging them to be part of the solution. You will be ready to play a key role in driving forward the growth of the programme, including managing exciting new projects such as our outdoor learning sessions. You will ideally have experience of working in the education system in Wales as well as managing projects or programmes. You will be a highly organised, able to manage a number of projects at the same time and handle competing deadlines. You will have a good understanding of climate change and be an engaging communicator.

Salary is in the range £26,000 – £31,000 p.a., dependent on experience. The package of benefits includes a 6% pension contribution, 30 days annual leave including bank holidays and a flexible working hours’ policy. The role is based in Cardiff but with regular remote working if desired. The role is advertised as a full-time role but applications for part-time working and job shares will also be considered.
