That is the number of fruit trees that will be planted in Mbale when the rainy season comes! Big thanks to all those who donated towards our Ten Trees for Christmas campaign.
The team in Mbale were delighted with the result and are looking forward to busily distributing the seedlings when they are ready.
Within five years a mango tree will be producing as many as 600 fruits per season, with two growing seasons a year. To think, 13,320 extra trees will be planted in the region, that’s a lot of fruit!
The fruits from these trees have immense benefits to the community, providing vital nutrition, plus any excess fruit can be sold, meaning an additional source of income to families. And of course, the trees themselves have major benefits locally and globally. Read more about what those are here.
