Support the Rainforest Foundation UK

Size of Wales are supporting our friends at Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK) to raise funds for Indigenous and local communities who are tackling tropical deforestation.

Between 22nd-29th April we are matching all donations up to £15,000 as part of the Big Give Green Match Fund. If you are able, we encourage you to donate to the campaign which can be found here.

Donations will support a project in the Democratic Republic of Congo which is supported by Size of Wales.

Supporting Indigenous and local communities to preserve their traditional land is a proven effective method to address worrying deforestation trends and the global climate crisis.

“For a long time, we’ve seen loggers come here. It was not good. We only knew that the State had sold the forest, and the loggers kept coming… Then you [RFUK and local partner GASHE] came to support us in obtaining our community forest.” – Dembele Alexi, Village Chief – Mibenga, Equateur, DRC

Your donations will support communities to manage and monitor their own forests, which is proven to reduce deforestation rates. This project provides an opportunity to monitor deforestation rates to strengthen and promote community managed forestry across Central Africa.

Currently, the planet loses around 12 million hectares of tropical forest each year to deforestation six times the size of Wales! Communities such as these in the Congo Basin hold the key to reversing this trend and tackling the global climate crisis.

If you’re unable to donate, you can still help by raising awareness of this campaign by sharing this page on social media. Thank you for your support!
