Plant! Celebrating 10 years

Posted on

The Plant!scheme which is delivered in partnership between Welsh Government, Woodland Trust, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and ourselves is celebrating its 10thyear with a series of event s that will be held across Wales. Having recently passed the amazing milestone of 300,000 trees planted, there is a lot to celebrate!

To give you some background, this wonderful scheme was set up to ensure that we, as a nation, have trees to enjoy for many years to come and that a close connection between our future generations and the natural environment is nurtured from an early age. To achieve this, a tree is planted in new Welsh woodland every time a child is born or adopted in Wales. Since 2014, a second tree has been planted for every tree planted in Wales. This tree is planted in Mbale, Uganda and ties into our 10 Million Treesproject. We hope that this helps to create a sense of connection to the wider world and an understanding of our global responsibility.

The celebrations will take place at most of the 15 existing planting sites. Many of the events are either private or school’s events but below is what’s still to come for you and the family to enjoy.
