Go Green Day is a national day of climate action organised by Size of Wales. Each year we encourage people, schools, policymakers, and businesses to join together and take positive actions to address climate change.

This year’s Go Green Day takes place on 25th June 2021 with events happening throughout that week. We are calling for people in Wales to take action against tropical deforestation.

Every year, the planet loses an area of forest equivalent to 9-times the size of Wales. This is caused by demand for everyday products, such as unsustainable palm oil, soy used in animal feed, beef, coffee, cacao, timber and paper. We want Wales to be part of the solution and become a Deforestation Free Nation.

Here are some of the ways you can get involved with Go Green Day 2021:

  • Fundraise: Wear Green, hold cake sales or (Fairtrade) coffee mornings to raise money for tropical forest communities like the Wampis in Peru to protect forests.
  • Take Action: Take steps to eliminate deforestation from your diet and from the products you buy and raise awareness of deforestation in work, school, or on social media using the hashtag #GoGreenDay21.
  • Campaign: Contact your local Senedd Members and ask them to take action on climate change by protecting tropical forests.

The money raised throughout the week will go to supporting forest protection projects and communities in South America, Africa and South-East Asia. All the money raised will be matched, meaning every donation has double the impact!

For Go Green Day, take action by writing to your Members of the Senedd and ask them to take action against tropical deforestation.

Everyone in Wales has five Members of the Senedd who represent them: One for their local constituency, and four who represent the wider region. Find out who your members are by entering your postcode on this website.

Once you’ve found your members, write to them by email or by post and ask them to:
  • Ensure public bodies in Wales only buy deforestation free food and products.
  • Promote nature friendly farming to reduce soy animal feed linked to deforestation.
  • Support communities overseas affected by climate change to adapt, prosper, and tackle deforestation.
