Environmental lawyer Elspeth Jones to head Cardiff-based climate mitigation charity

Environmental charity Size of Wales has appointed Elspeth Jones as the new Director of Size of Wales, effective 1st January 2019. She joins from a senior strategy role at the London-based environment law NGO ClientEarth, where she was a founding lawyer in ClientEarth’s climate litigation team and helped secure funding for its innovative programme using legal challenges to combat climate change.

Elspeth is a barrister and ‘passionate environmentalist’ with 11 years experience in the commercial, environmental and charities sector, and is currently also Vice Chair of the Sumatran Orangutan Society. She said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Size of Wales at such a critical moment in history for tackling climate change. We have so much to do and Size of Wales has a big role to play.”

Size of Wales chair of trustees, Peter Davies, said: “Elspeth joins at an exciting time as we expand both our work in protecting tropical forests in Africa, South America and Asia and the climate change education programmes in schools across Wales.”

“The trustees would like to thank Rita Singh for her leadership of the charity and wish her every success in her new role as Global Sustainability lead for Kingspan Insulation”
