Go Green Day 2019 Round-up

Posted on

It may be no surprise to you that Size of Wales’ favourite colour is green! And that’s why each year we celebrate Go Green Day and rally people, businesses and classrooms to go green and show their support for our work protecting and replanting the world’s tropical forests!

A big thank you to all our partners and all those who participated. What a big bunch of climate heroes you all are!

On Go Green Day eve (Thursday 20th June), we hosted an event at Blue Honey Local to get everyone excited and inspired for Wales’ biggest day of green action. We had delicious food and fizz on arrival, a storyteller and talks about trees. Thanks to all who came along, it was lovely to see you.

As part of this year’s campaign, people have been signing up to the Go Green Day Challenge – the pledge to calculate and cut your carbon footprint by at least 10% within 12 months. This included individuals and organisations. We have lots of handy tips on how to do this. It’s not too late to sign up and take the pledge!

42 schools across Wales got involved with a variety of Go Green Day activities at their school. Several Welsh AMs also visited schools to hear what the children were up to. With our fantastic schools, we also held a poster competition, asking schools to design a poster raising awareness about climate change and tropical forests as a means of tackling it. We had hundreds of entries! See our top 4 and commendable runners up here.
