Gilbert and his Mopani Trees

Posted on

Gilbert is a community member living within the Kariba project area who practices tree conservation near his home. Gilbert’s work recognised within the community for his particularly high standards of tree conservation.

He currently sells his Mopani trees – a species native to Africa with extremely hard, termite-resistant wood – for $5 to those who wish to use the material for roofing.

To complement his hard work, the Kariba project has gifted Gilbert with some eucalyptus seeds that will help further boost his conservation efforts.
