The World Economic Forum (WEF) is offsetting emissions through projects managed by one of Size of Wales’ partner, South Pole Group.

WEF is currently hosting a Sustainable Impact Summit with world leaders from government, business and civil society in New York to develop a ‘multi-stakeholder platform for concerted action on climate change’. They will be off-setting the impact of their staffs’ travel through the projects managed by our partner, South Pole Group, including our Kariba REDD+ project in Zimbabwe.

Size of Wales provides match-funding to the South Pole’s Kariba project in Zimbabwe, which is a REDD+ Forest Protection project. As a REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation) project, it protects 785,000 hectares of forest from deforestation and aims to set up a world-class wildlife management area conserving wildlife, land and self-empowering the local communities with small-holder business opportunities. Further details on the Kariba REDD+ project is available here: http://sizeofwales.org.uk/projects/kariba-redd/
